Coastal garden inspired by the South coast

A coastal‑inspired garden designed for a client who wanted to bring the atmosphere of her Italian seaside hometown into her everyday life. The layout combines driftwood structures, weathering steel, raised beds and a boardwalk path to create a textured, beach‑like landscape. Planting is drought‑tolerant, nectar‑rich and resilient, with coastal mounds, Mediterranean herbs and native species that support wildlife. Two beach huts replace the existing shed, offering storage and a sheltered place to sit, while the oil tank is screened discreetly within the design. A wildlife pond, bog garden pockets and habitat features increase ecological value, and marine‑style lighting provides gentle illumination for evenings outdoors. The garden is designed to feel relaxed, sustainable and deeply connected to the character of the South coast.
